Hi, my name is Dustin Smith, owner of WellFit Rx. At WellFit Rx we have a passion for helping committed people get fit, healthier, and do more of what they love with less aches and pains. Every person is different, so training and nutrition strategies cater to clients’ individual needs and are modified based on their responses. We work with all skill levels and meet clients where they are on their journey. We just ask that you have a goal, positive attitude, and a willingness to work hard.
We achieve success with clients by using simple, but effective principles that can be applied to their lifestyle. We are big believers in consistency, commitment, effort, and clarity with creating goal oriented habits.
I am no stranger to setbacks, injuries, and overcoming obstacles. Many years ago, I found out the daily low back pain I was having was due to a fractured spine. My L5 vertebrae was slipping forward on the S1 vertebrae and was confirmed to be unstable. When I bent forward it would cause a further slip. Many doctors said I would need a spinal fusion surgery to stabilize my spine.
Determined to not let this get the best of me, I became obsessed with healing myself and avoiding surgery. I drove hours to see multiple specialists, consulted professional from different countries, read multiple books and studies, and listened to everything I could from leaders in the field of low back disorders.
Rehabbing my spine for almost a year and a half taught me so much about myself and the human body. It taught me how important optimizing movements, postures, and positions are for removing the cause of pain and giving the body an opportunity to heal. It taught me how important quality nutrition is for healing. It taught me how important being consistent and persistent is even when you are at a low point in your life.
Being in the physical therapy field and seeking out further education helped me immensely, but there is something to be said for living it as well. The lowest point in my life turned out to be one of the greatest gifts. It allowed me to gain a level of empathy, experience, and relate to others in a way that I would not have gotten otherwise. It gave me a different perspective on health, fitness, and life. It helped me to develop a time efficient, holistic approach to sustainable weight loss, increased energy, moving better, and getting into great shape in less time.
Being a husband, father of 2, and entrepreneur, these strategies can be highly effective even for the busiest of people. I enjoy being able to give my best to support and guide others on their health and fitness journey, just like so many people have helped me along the way.
